PIZZA HUT DJ DECKS
Pizza Hut Restaurants has created and launched the world’s first playable pizza box DJ decks. These regular pizza boxes now allow users to mix and drop their own beats.
Created in partnership with Novalia, experts in printed electronics, users unfold the innovative pizza box to reveal a sleek design modelled on a modern DJ set up. Featuring two turntables, a cross-fader, pitch volumes, cue buttons and the ability to ‘rewind’ your music, the playable DJ decks sync via Bluetooth to the user’s smartphone or laptop with pro DJ software such as Algoriddim’s DJAY Pro.
The decks work by sensing human touch through the use of conductive ink and can differentiate between taps, long presses and even swipes of the finger in any direction, allowing music and pizza fans to mix and scratch the music they love.
Pizza Hut Restaurants partnered with grime royalty P Money and Rinse FM DJ, Vectra to show off the playable pizza box’s new musical capabilities.
Kath Austin, Director of HR and Marketing at Pizza Hut Restaurants, said: “Music and food is the ultimate combo – we know our customers love listening to their favourite tunes over a pizza and we’ve now given our collection customers the chance to combine and enjoy the two in the most innovative way. You just have to order a takeaway to have a chance of getting one.
“DJing is a huge passion for many of our guests so we thought it would be a great idea to give our pizza boxes a new lease of life by transforming them into real DJ decks for our customers to play and mix their own beats. We can’t wait to hear what our customers think of them.”
RInse FM’s DJ Vectra said: “When Pizza Hut Restaurants asked me if I’d like to be the first to perform using the playable DJ Pizza Box, it was a no-brainer. It takes a little while to get your head around the fact you’re controlling a mix through a cardboard pizza box but it’s crazy just how responsive and sensitive the controls are.”
